How to Manually Uninstall iTunes From Windows XP

    • 1). Exit the iTunes and iPod Updater Utility if either program is currently running. Press the "Ctrl," "Alt," and "Delete" key combination to bring up the Windows XP task manager.

    • 2). Click the tab labeled "Processes." Locate the process entry named "iPodService.exe." Click the entry and then select "End Process" to shut down the program.

    • 3). Access the Start menu and choose "Control Panel." Select the "Add or Remove Programs" link.

    • 4). Scroll down through the list of programs that are currently installed on your computer's hard drive. Click the "iTunes" entry and then click the "Remove button." Click "Yes" when prompted to confirm the decision.

    • 5). Click "No" if a window appears that prompts you to restart Windows XP. Locate the "iPod Updater" entry in the list of programs.

    • 6). Click the entry and then follow the same process to remove the program. Restart the Windows XP operating system.

    • 7). Open the Start menu and click "Search." Click the "Folders" check box and then type "iTunes." Click "Search." Delete the folder that appears in the search results.
