Back Up Windows XP

• 1). Turn on the computer and click on the "Start" Windows icon. This displays the "Start" menu. Choose "Run."
  
  
• 2). Enter "%SystemRoot%/system32/restore/rstrui.exe" into the "Search" field at the bottom of the "Start" menu. Click "OK."
  
  
• 3). Enter a date from which files are to be backed up. Click "Next."
  
  
• 4). Name the restore point. Click "Create." Naming the file makes it easier to find later.
  
  
• 5). Click "Close."
  
  

Restore Windows XP

• 1). Click on the "Start" menu. Choose "Run."
  
  
• 2). Enter "%SystemRoot%/System32/Restore/Rstrui.exe" into the Search field at the bottom of the "Start" menu. Click "OK."
  
  
• 3). Click "Restore my computer to an earlier time." and "Next."
  
  
• 4). Confirm the restore point by clicking "Next" again. Allow the computer to restart to restore all of the operating system files.
  
  
• 5). Click "OK" once the computer has restarted and the system restore confirmation appears.
