Halloween Float Ideas
- Shades of orange and black are traditional Halloween colors. Weave these into your float decor through rolls of fabric that cover the flooring of your float. Orange and black balloons are another festive touch. Incorporate a Happy Halloween banner in orange and black. Customize your float further depending on your theme.
- Build on your base decor by adding an overall theme. A spooky Halloween theme is one idea. Have volunteers dress as witches, goblins and ghosts and reenact scary stories. Or, create a cheerful Halloween float; people dressed in pumpkin costumes of all sizes bobbing up and down in rows will be a welcome sight for many young children. Add a few finishing touches for your specific theme, such as a smoke machine for an eerie effect or children's music for a more cheerful, child-oriented float.
- Rent or procure large float balloons, such as a giant pumpkin, ghost or witch, and have volunteers sit on the float holding the straps for the big balloons. The large balloons are like puppets and your volunteers can work magic for the crowd by moving them back and forth accordingly.
- Investing in a Halloween float is a costly venture. Seek corporate sponsorship from a local business and prominently display the business logo on the side of the float and on your banner. Having sponsorship also provides another outlet for volunteer recruitment and another source for theme ideas.
- Weave a good cause into your Halloween float by adding a charitable element. Have a few volunteers walk alongside the float and collect donations for a food bank or a particular shelter.
