Homemade Gag Gifts for Christmas

    Fruitcake Gift Card Holder

    • Fruitcakes have been the punch lines of jokes ever since they were first invented, and almost every person in America has at least one gathering dust on a pantry shelf. Take out the cake and cut off the top quarter, but do not throw it away. Hollow out the center of the remaining cake. Place a gift card to your friend of family member's favorite store. Rewrap the cake and place it under the Christmas tree. Make sure to add a card that lets the cake's recipient know that there is a special treat inside this seemingly boring gift.

    Embarrassing Photo Album

    • You'll have to start early for this present. Keep your camera hidden in your pocket and take a few pictures of your target in some embarrassing poses. If necessary, put him or her on the spot by asking them to try on a ridiculous hat or play a game of Twister. Snap the pictures secretly, and place them in a photo album. The recipient of the album will initially be touched by the beautiful gift, that is until he or she sees it's less-than-flattering content.

    The Big, Funny Letdown

    • Start by tracking down the largest cardboard box possible. Drop a few hints the weeks and days before Christmas that the object of your joke is getting a very large, magnificent gift this year. Keep the box hidden and fill it with paper, rocks (to give it some weight) and the actual present. Wrap the "gift" and give it to the lucky recipient. Watch his or her eyes light up with anticipation of what this massive box will contain. Of course, the joke will definitely be on them when he discovers that the contents of this year's gift are not as grand as it seemed.
