  Before you start buying supplies for your teens party, you should begin with deciding on a theme together. The themes vary depending on what your teen likes and where you decide to have the party. For example, your teen may want a 70s themed party at your house, or have a party at the beach, in which case you can have a beach party.
  
  

Decorations

• Get decorations that will accent the theme your teen has chosen. If your teen does not necessarily want a themed party, decorate using his favorite color. This enables you to pull the whole party together despite the lack of a theme. Or you can decorate for the time of year it is. For example, if it is a summer birthday, decorate using orange and yellow streamers and palm trees. If the birthday is on location somewhere, like the beach, not many decorations are needed because it is outdoors.
  
  

Party Favors

• Having party favors may seem like something that you stopped having at parties when your child was young. However, you can find fun party favors for teens that can be used throughout the night and later on. For example, if it is a sports-themed party, put games with a sports theme in the party favor bags. Or if it is a summer beach party get small water guns they can play with throughout the party. Teens still like to play with toys so have your child help pick out what should go in the party favor bags.
  
  

Eating Utensils

• Every party has food, so you will need food plates, cake plates, napkins and utensils. These should all match in some way. If they are not for a themed party, then get them in the same color. Getting paper plates also makes party clean up easier for you. Colored utensils can usually be found as well at party supply stores.
  
  

Food

• Make sure you have a wide spread of food and snacks. These can be put in colorful or glass bowls that go with the theme. Also, many people have various food allergies (i.e. gluten, lactose, etc.) so it is important to make sure there is something at the party that these people can eat as well. The cake is a very important part. Many bakeries custom make creative cakes that will help better celebrate your teen's birthday and help make it special.
