Creative Halloween Party Games

    • Halloween games are part of many Halloween parties. There are standard games such as bobbing for apples, pinning the nose on the jack-o-lantern and participating in trying to break a pinata. If those games have become too repetitive you can create your own versions of those games, or try some Halloween party games that aren't known quite as well.

    Witch Hunt Game

    • The Witch Hunt Game involves hiding paper cutouts of witches around the party location before guests arrive. On the back of each of the witches, write either a point value, or the words "prize #" with a number filled in. Guests compete to collect as many points as possible to find the witches. At the end of the game, the player with the most points wins a prize, as does the player with the most witches. Have a special prize for each of the witches that had a prize number written on the back, for the player that collected the witch with that prize number.

    Low Hanging Fruit

    • Hang a number of apples on strings from a tree equal to the number of guests at the party. On each of the apples, place a sticker with a number on it. Create numbered prize bags with candy and other items such as fast food gift certificates. The numbers on the bags should match the numbers on the apples, with the highest bag numbers having the biggest-value prizes in them When all your guests have arrived, have each player choose a number from a hat, which determines the order the players line up in. Blindfold each player one at a time and let them catch one of the hanging apples from the tree. Remove that apple, and the player gets the apple along with the prize bag that matches the number on the apple.

    Ring Around The Pumpkin

    • Purchase five to 10 pumpkins and create jack-o-lanterns out of each. Place them in the yard at various distances and locations from a foul line where players will stand. Place a sign next to each pumpkin, indicating how many points it is worth. Each player is then given three hula hoops to throw at any pumpkins he wishes on his turn. The player receives the points labeled for any pumpkin he lands the hula hoop around. Offer each player that scores points her choice of candy from a large bowl, with each point being worth one piece of candy.

    Trick or Treat

    • Cut a number of strips of paper that is three times as many guests that are attending the party. On the strips, label half of them with prize numbers. These numbers will match up with prizes that you label with the same number. The prizes you supply should be age-appropriate for the age of your guests. On the other strips include tasks the guests must do or questions they must answer. A task could be for a guest to spell his name backwards, or hop from one side of the room to the others wearing a witch's hat, or give another guest a kiss on the cheek. Questions should be age-appropriate.
