How to Add Shared Music to Playlists in iTunes

    • 1). Open iTunes on your computer.

    • 2). Click the "Edit" option from the iTunes toolbar and select "Preferences."

    • 3). Click the "Sharing" tab and put a check in the box located to the left of "Look for shared libraries." Click "OK."

    • 4). Select the iTunes user whose files you want to view from the "Shared" subsection located on the left side of the iTunes window.

    • 5). Scroll through the iTunes user's shared files to find the specific music files you want to add to your iTunes playlist. Click the music file to play the song on your computer.

    • 6). Select the "iTunes" option from the iTunes toolbar. Click "Preferences" and select the "Advanced" tab.

    • 7). Uncheck the box located to the left of "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library file." Click the "OK" button.

    • 8). Click "File" from the iTunes toolbar and select the "Add File to Library" option. Select the music file(s) you want to copy to your playlist. The files will automatically copy to your iTunes library.

    • 9). Search for the file(s) you copied in Step 8 by entering the file name in the iTunes search bar located in the upper-right corner of the iTunes window.

      Drag the file(s) to the playlist to which you want to add the music file(s).
