How to Install Windows XP for the First Time

    • 1). Turn on your computer (if it is already on, restart it) and wait for the initial splash screen to appear.

    • 2). Press the key displayed on the splash screen to open the boot menu, highlight the "Boot from CD" or "Boot from DVD" option that appears, insert your Windows XP disc into the computer and then press the "Enter" key.

    • 3). Press the "Enter" key again when you see "Press any key to boot from CD-ROM..." appear on the screen.

    • 4). Press the "Enter" key at the pre-installation Welcome Screen, press the "F8" key and then use your arrow keys to choose which hard disk you want to install Windows XP on.

    • 5). Press the "Enter" key three times to accept the default partition size and formatting options and start the installation process.

    • 6). Type in your product key when prompted to finish the installation. The total installation time is around forty-five minutes.
