• 1). Look on the side of the computer unit first. If your computer came with Windows preinstalled, the product key can be found here.
  
  
• 2). Check the Windows software CD or DVD case or paper sleeve if you received software disks with your computer or if you purchased the software separately. The product key will be located on the back of the case or sleeve. It's usually printed on an orange or yellow sticker.
  
  
• 3). Call Microsoft if you are unable to locate your product key. They can be reached at (800) 642-7676. They may ask you to provide information from your computer or from your Windows software disk. To obtain another Windows product key, you may have to pay a fee so store your software disks and product key in a safe place.
