How to Make Beaded Wire

    • 1). Select your wire. Jewelry wire is available in a variety of metals, including gold, silver, and bronze. Precious metal wire has different grades determined by several factors, including the thickness, the shape, the weight and the concentration of the metals. If you are new to making jewelry with wire, it is best to practice with inexpensive craft wire before using wire made with precious metals.

    • 2). Estimate the amount of wire you will need for your project. With enough practice, you will be able to correctly estimate how much wire you will need for a project.

    • 3). Select beads. There is a large selection of beads from which to choose, and they are available in varying sizes. Use the diameter of your wire to determine the size of beads you need.

Make a loop. Using round-nose pliers, grip the wire firmly about 1 inch from an end of the wire and twist the pliers until you have formed a curve. Grip the end of the 1 inch of wire with flat-nose pliers and use it to wrap this small section of wire around the longer length. This will form a secured loop (see image).

String beads. Slide as many beads as you wish onto the wire. The loop will keep the beads from sliding off (see image).

    • 6). Make a loop at the other end, if needed. This will depend on your project. If you decide to form another loop, use the directions in Step 4. Use this beaded wire to complete a project of your choice.
