How to Record Audio With Windows XP Media Center

- 1). Connect the microphone by inserting the plug on the end of the cord into the computer's microphone jack or sound card, typically located along the left edge of a laptop or on the back of a PC's central processing unit (CPU).
- 2). Click the "Start" button in the lower left-hand corner of the screen, then click "All Programs."
- 3). Choose "Accessories" from the drop-down menu, click "Entertainment" and select "Sound Recorder."
- 4). Place the microphone within range of the audio source and click the "Record" button on Sound Recorder. The button has a black circle in the center.
- 5). Click the "Stop" button when finished recording, then choose "File" and click "Save." Type a name for the recording and click "Save."
