How to Stop Automatic Microsoft Updates
- 1). Click on the "Start" button and bring up your Control Panel.
- 2). Click on the "Automatic Updates" icon that appears on your Control panel. This will open a new window on your screen. You'll be given several options pertaining to your Automatic Update settings.
- 3). Click on the setting of your choice. You can opt to remain on automatic, which allows your computer to install updates whenever they're available. Alternatively, you can set your computer to download the updates, but not install them. With this choice, you can determine when the installation takes place. The third option allows you to be notified of updates, but they will not be downloaded or installed unless you give permission. The final option turns Automatic Updates off completely.
