How to Cut Baggy T-shirts to Make a Snugger Fit
- 1). Turn the T-shirt inside out and lay it on your work surface with the hemline in front of you.
- 2). Lay a close-fitting shirt on top of the T-shirt and align the necklines and shoulder seams of the two shirts. Pin the close-fitting shirt to the T-shirt.
- 3). Draw around the sides of the close-fitting shirt with a piece of chalk. Draw underneath the arms and down the underside of the sleeves. Leave about 1/4-inch gap between the close-fitting shirt and the chalk lines to allow room for the seams.
- 4). Unpin and remove the close-fitting shirt; it's no longer needed since you've drawn lines on the baggy shirt. Cut along the chalk lines on the sides of the baggy T-shirt, underneath the arms and down the sleeves. Cut through both the front and back of the T-shirt.
- 5). Pin the front and back edges of the new sides, underarms and underside of the sleeves. Leave the shirt inside out and try it on to make sure it fits snugly.
- 6). Take off the shirt and sew a straight stitch along the pin line, about 1/4 inch away from the edges of the fabric.
