How to Make a Picture of Yourself With Cut-Outs

    Preparation

    • 1). Sit a chair in front of a blank wall and turn the chair sideways.

    • 2). Tape a large sheet of white paper on the wall behind the chair. The poster board should be positioned behind the wall so that the bottom is aligned with the top of the chair back and centered on the chair.

    • 3). Turn on a flashlight and place it on a table on the opposite side of the room from the chair. The flashlight beam should point at the sheet of white paper.

    • 4). Sit in the chair and turn sideways so that the shadow of your profile can be seen on the paper.

    • 5). Ask your assistant to turn out the lights in the room. Leave the flashlight on.

    Complete

    • 1). Ask your assistant to outline your shadow profile on the white paper with a pencil.

    • 2). Turn the lights back on and the flashlight off.

    • 3). Cut your shadow profile out of the white paper with scissors.

    • 4). Lay the cut out profile on a sheet of black poster board and outline the profile on the black poster board with a pencil.

    • 5). Cut your profile out of the black poster board and lay the cut-out on another white sheet of paper, any size you prefer, gluing the black silhouette down on the white paper with craft glue. Frame the portrait as desired.
