Another Mass Massacre - Why Do People Snap and Kill?
It happened again.
People who are seemingly calm go on a killing rampage.
The news media are on the look out for a reason.
Psychoanalysts and psychiatrists are being interviewed for clues and when the dust settles down, nothing will be learned or implemented to prevent another tragedy.
Bullying at schools and at work (as well a job loss) is what usually (in most cases) sends people over the edge.
The pathway to violence usually requires a build up over few days.
It starts with some thinking and then fantasizing about a plan and then acting on it.
These people also lose the ability to empathize with their victims to be.
The gunman in Virginia Tech was a schizophrenic.
The attacker of Columbine High was depressed.
The assailant of Fort Texas is going to be what? It is true that Schizophrenia, brain tumors, seizures, alcohol and drug abuse are risk factors for violence; however, in most cases, they are seldom the culprits.
I believe that a genetic predisposition for anger and outburst, coupled a medical condition, poor coping techniques, a suppressive environment (politically correct environment), and easy gun access provide the ingredients for a mass killer to be.
We cannot change the DNA of the attackers to be but we can do 2 important things to prevent these tragedies: 1-Clamp down on bullying practices at work and schools.
2-Abolish the second amendment secondary to its misinterpretation.
I wish we could do a spirit calling session with the founding fathers where we can ask them if they continue to hold their opinions and views given its tragic consequences...
