How to Make an Arrow Head From a Beer Bottle

    • 1). Place the beer bottle inside the pillowcase. Twist the top of the pillowcase closed.

    • 2). Strike the glass with the hammer through the pillowcase to shatter it into pieces. Strike it only about three or four times to avoid breaking it into pieces too small to use. For best results, work over concrete.

    • 3). Put on the work gloves. Open the pillowcase and select a piece of glass that will make a good arrowhead. Look for a piece roughly two or three inches square with a sharp corner that you can refine into the arrow shape. Use the bottom of the bottle if you want to have a thicker arrowhead that's harder to break, though this will take more time to cut and grind through.

    • 4). Draw an arrowhead shape onto the glass piece using a permanent marker. This will serve as a guide for cutting out the shape.

    • 5). Wrap the piece of glass partially in felt. Grip the glass in the vise grips with the felt protecting the glass from the metal of the grips.

    • 6). Cut out the arrowhead shape using the oscillating power tool and large diamond burr grinding attachment. Hold the vise grips in one hand while you work with the power tool in the other. Adjust the position of the glass in the vise grips and felt so that you can cut all the way around the glass.

    • 7). Grind down any remaining sharp edges on the glass, especially those that still remain from the initial breaking.

    • 8). Run the grinder over the entire glass piece to give it a consistent, frosted look. Switch to a sanding bit on the oscillating power tool. Run the sanding bit over the glass a few times to smooth out the arrowhead further.

    • 9). Rinse the finished arrowhead to remove dust. Wipe away any permanent marker that remains on the glass with a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover.
