How to Change the Battery in an Apple iPod

    • 1). Slide the locking tab at the upper right corner to the left so that the orange stripe can not be seen. Place a soft cloth on a table. Place the iPod Video face up on the soft cloth.

    • 2). Insert the tip of the iPod opening tool into the seam between the black plastic front and the silver metal base at the upper left corner. Move the iPod opening tool down the length of the iPod to the bottom left corner. Move the iPod opening tool along the width of the bottom to the lower right corner. Move the iPod opening tool up the length of the iPod to the upper right corner. Move the iPod opening tool along the width of the top to the upper left corner.

    • 3). Remove the iPod opening tool. Pull the black plastic front off the silver metal back Turn the black plastic front over and place it alongside the silver metal back with the battery at the bottom edge--taking care not to break off the cables connected between the two.

    • 4). Pull the battery out of the black plastic front with your fingers. Gently pull the battery cable's plug out of the socket in the bottom of the black plastic front. Discard the battery properly.

    • 5). Insert the replacement iPod battery cable's plug into the socket n the bottom of the black plastic front. Apply a dab of glue to the non-text labeled side of the battery with the glue stick. Place the text labeled side of the battery into the position that was occupied by the original battery

    • 6). Turn the black plastic front over. Place the black plastic front on the silver metal back. Push down on the black plastic front to secure it back onto the silver metal back.
