Claude Monet - The Most Famous Painter Of France
November 14, 1840 is the birth date of the famous French painter, Claude Monet who founded the French Impressionist Painting. He was from a business family. His family dealt in the grocery business. His father always wanted him to join his family business but his interest was in painting and not in business. The initial painting and drawing lessons were taught to Monet by Jacques-Franois Ochard. The outdoor painting techniques and the use of the oil paints were taught to Monet by Eugene Boudin. He spent many years of his life in Paris and travelling between England and France.

Monet was known for painting his outdoor scenes. The scenes that he painted in his coveted gardens were the most popular among his outdoor scenes. The success did not come to Monet immediately like other artists but achieving of success was a step by step process for him. Much fame and money was not earned by his initial paintings. His artwork was appreciated only after the death of Camille, his first wife. This appreciation of his artwork was not enjoyed by Camille. Monet finished the "The Woman in the Green Dress" after the death of Camille and this painting earned much fame and money for him.
Monet got married with Camille when he was 30 and then he painted another impression and then he painted "Sunrise" in the year 1872-1873. The death of Camille changed the life of Monet. It was the worst incident for this great painter. His wife died at a young age because she suffered from Tuberculosis. She suffered from this life taking disease during her pregnancy and left this world on 5th September, 1879. This incident has taken Monet into depression and he detached himself from rest of the world and concentrated only on his paintings and this worked positively for him. The paintings that Monet created in depression were the best paintings of the 19th century. After the death of his wife, Monet started working in partnership with Paul Durand-Ruel, a French dealer. This partnership brought fame for Monet and earned him lot of money. Monet bought a new home from the money that he earned from his partnership with the French dealer. This home also had a small garden. Monet used his garden to do full time painting.

In the later years of life of this painter, cataract developed in his eyes and this eye problem blurred his vision. The paintings that he created during these years showed the marked difference. In these paintings, colors were less vibrant with the blurrier brush strokes. Monet continued his painting work until he was totally blind. His paintings are ideal examples for the artists.
