How to Create a Mosaic Flower Pot

    • 1

      CRUSH YOUR GLASS.
Buy stained glass that is already in pieces. However, to save money
you can use old chipped and cracked china, plates, mirrors, and cups. Take your old towel and lay it out on a hard surface. Place your piece that you are going to crush and then fold the towel over it. Smash it with a hammer until the glass pieces are about an inch in diamater. Don't smash them too small, and you don't want the pieces to be too huge.

      PRPARE YOUR CLAY POT.
Spray your pot with a sealer. If you are not using a cement based grout
it is important to seal your pot first because it will get wet and potentially it can fall apart. Once it is dry, you are ready to start gluing your pieces.

      GLUE YOUR MOSIAC.
Take your glass pieces and place them on your clay pot. Make sure that you use a glue that is strong enough. The hardware store sells great products, and wellbond is recommended for large projects. You can glue them strategically and create patterns, designs, and color schemes. Don't glue your pieces to close together so that there is plenty of room for the grout.

      GROUT YOUR POT.
Spread your grout completely over your pot. You don't want to be able to see any of the pot. It is a good idea to use gloves and spread it with your hands so that you can make sure it will be spread evenly. Once your grout is spread all over your flower pot it is time to wipe it clean.

      WIPE YOUR POT CLEAN.
Use a wet cloth and wipe all of the grout clean. If you see any spots of your pot you will want to reapply your grout. Once your pot is finished, let it dry. Create a mosiac flower pot for your friends and family for unique gifts.
