A Windows optimizer can dramatically improve the performance of your system. It does this by identifying clutter and threats and generally tidying up your hard drive. Several programs out there claim to be the most effective at carrying out this task, all with differing degrees of effectiveness and cost. - ZeoOptimizer offers a great deal of versatility because it works with any of the six main versions of Windows; at $29.95 (June 2010) it is also a relatively cheap option, with many other optimizers costing more. Your license will allow you to install ZeoOptimizer on up to three computers. ZeoOptimizer offers a 24/7 call center, automatic updates and the capability to carry out a deep scan of your computer's system.
- At just under $50 (as of 2010), System Mechanic Pro is one of the more expensive Windows optimizers available. The program is also not compatible with Windows 7 or Windows 7 64-bit, so it is worth looking elsewhere if you have a new computer with the latest version of Windows. The product does come with a 24/7 call center and live chat for product support and offers automatic updates to the program. System Mechanic Pro also features software tips to the user.
- SpeedUpMyPC weighs in at $39.95 (2010) and is compatible with any version of Windows, except for the 64-bit Windows operating systems. This program offers the user software tips and performs deep scans on the system, but does not offer automatic updates or 24/7 and live chat support as many other products of this type do.
- PC Optimizer Pro offers a 24/7 support line for users, but not the ability to live chat with a technician. The product does come with a video tutorial on how to use the software, and it can carry out a deep scan on your system and provide you with a detailed report. The only versions of Windows the software is not compatible with are the 64-bit versions of Vista and XP. PC Optimizer Pro costs $29.95 (as of 2010), and you can only register the program on one PC.
