Charmed Cards & Crafts

    History

    • Charmed Cards and Crafts started trading in 2005, is owned by Karen Mortensen and specializes in crafting items of particular interest to greeting card makers and scrapbookers. The business operates solely on the Internet, having no traditional brick and mortar outlet. A community spirit exists amongst users on the related "Dottie's World" blog, which features projects and ideas.

    Products

    • The company supplies all kinds of equipment and embellishments in the form of rubber stamps, ink pads and digital downloads of images ready to use. They also supply craft equipment such as eyelets, brads, pens, paints, glues and ribbons. Advice and inspiration on how to use products, particularly the downloadable images, is offered throughout the site.

    Digital Downloads

    • Many of the digital downloads are in the form of whimsical drawings and feature the characters "Dottie," "George" and "Homer." Most of the digital download designs are by Louise Brigden, who also co-designed the "Annie" acrylic stamp range. The digital downloads are in the form of line drawings that can be cut out, colored and finished to the user's own specifications. Other downloads are full-color images ready to cut out and use. Tutorials on the website show how to use the images and include instructions regarding printing multiple images and how to resize images in Microsoft Word. A selection of free downloads is also available.

    Characters and Style

    • Charmed Cards and Crafts images are whimsical and charming character portraits and include such things as friendly aliens, elves and fairies, fairytales, animals, boys and girls, as well as some anime-type images and the original "Dottie" and "George" characters. The full-color collections of images include pictures and phrases, all of which have the versatility to be printed at any size and as many times as the purchaser wishes.
