How to Transfer Music From an iPhone to iTunes on a New Computer
- 1). Power your iPhone on by pressing and holding the power button on the top of the device. Once the iPhone has booted, open the App Store by tapping the blue icon on the home screen.
- 2). Search for an app that will allow you to use the iPhone as a portable storage drive. Examples of these are Air Sharing, FileMagnet, and Datacase, which cost $5 to $7 each, and mAPPn Discover, which is free to download.
- 3). Follow the app's prompts to set up disk use on your iPhone and import the music files from your old computer. This process will vary depending on which app you chose, so be sure to familiarize yourself with all instructions before attempting to transfer files.
- 4). Install and run iTunes on your new computer. Download the latest version for free from Apple's website.
- 5). Connect your iPhone to your new computer, then select the option to import files or folders from the File menu in the iTunes application. Follow the prompts to locate and select the music you transferred from your old computer and wait for the importing process to complete before disconnecting your iPhone or closing iTunes.
