How to Make Your Own Lilacs
- 1). Cut a surplus of 15 to 30 small, simple, four-petal flowers out of purple craft paper. Stick a needle through the centers to make a small stem hole in each flower.
- 2). Cut two pieces of heavy-gauge wire for the main stem of the lilac flower to your desired length. Twist the wires together.
- 3). Cut 15 to 30 short, variable-sized lengths of thin-gauge wire for the individual flower stems.
- 4). Divide the short lengths of wire into two to three clusters. Wire one cluster to the end of the main stem and the additional clusters below. Spread the clusters apart to create "sprays" of wire.
- 5). Wrap the wires in floral tape. Start at the bottom of the stem and gradually work up to the individual flower stems. Leave just a bit of wire poking out of the tape at the ends of the flower stems.
- 6). Poke the purple flowers onto the wire ends and add a drop of glue to each center. Pinch the flowers slightly to crimp them.
- 7). Cap the wire ends with small, green foam balls.
- 8). Lightly mist the flowers with lilac-scented perfume, aromatic spray or diluted essential oil.
