Amana Refrigerator Troubleshooting
- If your Amana refrigerator won't turn on, check to see if your power is on and that you are not experiencing a power failure. Plug the refrigerator power cord into the wall outlet, and check to see if it fits snugly into the outlet. Turn the refrigerator on, and check to see if it's on the proper setting. Check the circuit breaker, and turn back on if tripped. Replace bad fuses. A bad fuse is either black or has broken wires. Lower the temperature setting if the refrigerator is too warm, and refrain from constantly opening and closing the doors. Check to see if the doors are completely closed. It is normal for your refrigerator motor to run longer than your old refrigerator's motor, especially if you have just started the refrigerator or if you have added a lot of food to it. Clean dirty coils if your food is the wrong temperature, and raise the temperature setting if your food is too cold.
- Check to see if the water supply valve is connected and turned on if you are not getting ice or the ice is small. Turn on the icemaker, and remove any ice or food items blocking the ejector arm. Allow up to 24 hours for a new icemaker to produce ice and after you have removed a lot of ice. Remove any kinks from the water source line, and completely close the freezer door. Check to see if the ice bin is installed correctly. Clean the ice bin, and avoid storing food in it if your ice has an odor or tastes weird. Dump out old ice, and use a filter if your water has a high mineral content. It is normal for the icemaker to stop dispensing ice if you hold the lever for too long.
- It is normal for your refrigerator to make noise while operating. If it is vibrating, use a bubble level to determine if your Amana refrigerator is level. It is normal for condensation to form on the outside of your refrigerator if your home is humid. Clean gaskets and reduce opening the door if condensation forms inside your refrigerator. If your interior light won't come on, try tightening the bulb, and replace if burnt out.
- It is normal for a couple of drops of water to leak out of your water dispenser after use or after you change the filter. Allow up to 24 hours for water to get cool after a new installation or after using a lot of water. Check to see if the refrigerator is connected to the cold water pipe and that the water supply is on and not clogged. Remove any kinks from the water supply line, and correctly install water filters. Use a water pressure gauge to check water pressure. This gauge connects directly to your water line. Amana recommends a water pressure of at least 30 psi. Completely close the freezer door to dispense water.
