Observe the plant. Take note of its shape, stalk, leaves, and size. A diseased plant will look quite different from a healthy one. Signs of an unhealthy plant include brown or yellow wilted leaves, powdery white fungal growth, black or brown spots around the base of the stem, and black rotted roots.
