How to Thread a Singer 5910 Sewing Machine
- 1). Turn the hand wheel toward you, in a counterclockwise motion, to raise the needle to its highest position.
- 2). Flip the lever on the back left the machine to raise the presser foot. This disengages the machine's tension so you can pull thread through the internal tension discs with ease.
- 3). Place a spool of thread on the horizontal thread pin on the top right of the machine. Slide on the spool cap to reduce tangling.
- 4). Grasp the end of the thread and pull it directly to the left toward the first thread guide. Insert the thread between the tension discs, then slide it down into the groove on the thread guide.
- 5). Pull the thread straight down through the right-most thread guide. Continue around the bottom curve, then back up. This motion creates a "U" shape with the thread in the thread guide.
- 6). Holding the thread taught at the top of the thread guide, pull it through the take-up lever from right to left, sliding it into the slot.
- 7). Continue pulling the thread straight down through the left-most thread guide until you reach the needle thread guide on the thread bar. Slip thread into the needle thread guide through the opening on the left.
- 8). Thread the needle by pushing the thread tail from front to back through the eye of the needle.
