Instructions for an Origami Man
- 1). Cut a piece of paper to 6 inches by 12 inches. Use a fairly sturdy paper -- not too thick or it will become hard to fold and not too thin or it won't hold its shape.
- 2). Fold the paper in half width-wise and crease the edges crisply. Fold in half again the same way and crease.
- 3). Unfold the last fold you made and fold the paper in fourths so the two sides meet the crease in the middle.
- 4). Unfold the folds from Step 3 and fold the page into eighths. Each previous fold is now folded in half. Continue creasing the edges crisply.
- 5). Unfold the folds from Step 4 and fold the paper into sixteenths. The sheet of paper will now resemble a folded fan.
- 6). Unfold the folds from Step 5 and turn the paper vertically so all the folds are running toward you. Fold the page into sixteenths again, using the above method. The folds will be running the opposite direction of the previous folds.
- 7). Unfold the entire paper. Fold the paper down the middle crease width-wise. Begin to follow the creases that have formed around the edges of the square by folding each edge under one crease and sealing with your fingers so that points begin to form at the four corners. Use your fingernails to make sure the points are firmly creased.
- 8). Squeeze the bottom two points with your fingers as you follow the creases to fold the middle of the paper upward so that the points become bigger and the middle disappears. The points are becoming the legs. While this motion sounds difficult, it should flow naturally because of the creases that you have already formed.
- 9). Squeeze the top two points with your fingers as you fold the creases upward toward the middle of the paper so that the points become bigger and the middle disappears to form arms. Again, this motion should flow naturally because of the creases that you have already formed.

You will have two legs and two arms and a long rectangular body in the middle. Squeeze the rectangle between the arms to form the head. For added detail, you can fold the ends of the arms and legs to make hands and feet.
