Components of a Hot Water Heater Tank

Like any other things on the world, a hot water heater tank has its own parts.
Its parts are essential in the efficient functioning of the heater.
Below are the major components of a hot water heater tank.
1.
Water lines.
This is either for hot or cold water.
Through this line, cold water can enter the tank.
Also, this is being controlled by a valve that is used to shut off the tank.
2.
Dip tube.
This can be found inside the tank.
As the cold water enters, it will go here.
The water will be heated here by a burner.
3.
Sacrificial anode.
This is a rod which is made of metal.
It is attached on the top and it stretches in to the inside.
This is used to attract rust to avoid corrosion inside.
4.
Burner Control Mode.
This serves as a thermostat.
You can adjust the temperature here.
This manages the blast-off of the light of the pilot.
The burner is assembled together with a pilot light.
These two are the keys to an efficient functioning of the heater.
Moreover, with the presence of these two, energy can be used wisely.
The burner should create flames that should have tips coloured blue.
Tips also must be about half inch.
5.
Exhaust flue.
There are two purpose of the exhaust flue.
First, it uses up burning gases which is created by the burner.
Second, it serves as a heat exchanger.
As a heat exchanger, it helps in making the water in the storage tank hot.
The flue must be correctly directed to the outside.
Also, there are codes that are specifically required in constructing a flue.
6.
Relief Valve.
This is an important and a safety component of a hot water heater tank.
This works along with the discharge pipe.
This is used to release too much pressure and temperature inside the tank.
Excess pressure and temperature should be released once it reached the limit of the design range.
This valve is placed on the cap of the tank.
Oftentimes, it is stringed directly on the main cover.
You can test the quality of the valve.
Raise its handles a little.
Then, pour out hot water out of the overflow pipe.
Observe if there is pressure that is released.
7.
Drain valve.
This valve is used when cleaning out the tank.
When you want to empty out all the water, just open the drain valve.
This information regarding hot water heater tank can help you in using yours.
This will guide you on the parts that you must be aware of.
Moreover, this gives you an overview of the functions of each part.
