How to Make a FlipFold Cardboard

    • 1). Draw four rectangles on a sheet of thick cardboard. Two rectangles must measure 9-by-12 inches, and the other two must measure 9-by-25 inches. Boxes of electrical appliances, like television sets, are suitable for this task, as they are made of thick and sturdy cardboard.

    • 2). Cut out the rectangles using a utility knife. Only on the two large rectangles, draw 10 freehand circles throughout their surface. The circles must be evenly distributed on the rectangles -- don't worry if you haven't made perfect circles.

    • 3). Use the utility knife to remove the circles from the large rectangles. Removing the circles allows air to pass through the panels when you flip them. This minimizes air resistance and allows you to make flat, neat folds.

    • 4). Place one small rectangle vertically on a flat surface, and put the other small rectangle directly below it. On the left and right sides of the small rectangles, place the large rectangles vertically. Looking at all four panels from above, they should form a square.

    • 5). Separate the rectangles slightly, so that there is a 1-inch distance between them. Use duct tape to connect the 12-inch sides of the top small rectangle with the adjacent large rectangles, while keeping the 1-inch distance between them. Use duct tape in the same way to connect the bottom side of the top small rectangle with the top side of the bottom small rectangle.

    • 6). Turn the panels around. Use duct tape on the exact same parts in step five. Press together the sticky sides of the duct tape on the 1-inch gap between the panels.
