How to Replace the Front Fender of a '98 Ford Taurus
- 1). Loosen the wheel nuts on the two front tires using the tire iron. Raise the front end of the Taurus using the jack and lower the front end on two jack stands. Remove the tires from the frame and set them aside.
- 2). Remove the screws that secure the plastic wheel well covers to the frame using the screwdriver. Pull the wheel well cover off the frame and set it aside. Look inside the wheel well and locate the bolts that secure the fenders to the frame
- 3). Remove the bolts from the frame and fender using the ratchet and 5.5 mm socket. Slide under the Taurus so that you are looking up at the place where the fenders meet the bumper. Remove the bolts connecting the bumper to the fender using the ratchet and socket. Open the hood and remove the bolts that secure the fender to the engine compartment using the ratchet and socket. Pull the fender off the frame.
- 4). Place the new fender onto the frame and have your friend hold the fender in place as you tighten all of the bolts. Replace the wheel well covers to the frame and tighten the securing screws using the screwdriver.
- 5). Replace the wheels to the frame and the nuts to the wheels. Raise the Taurus off the jack stands and lower the car to the ground. Tighten the wheel nuts using the tire iron.
