How to Create a Temp Page File

    • 1). Log on to your computer and click on the "Start" button. Choose "Control Panel" from the menu.

    • 2). Double-click the "System" icon and click on the "Advanced" tab. Click on the "Settings" box under the "Performance" section of the window.

    • 3). Click on the "Advanced" tab and click "Change" next to the virtual memory section. Change the size of this file to the value recommended by the software manufacturer. The default value of the page file is 1.5 times the amount of physical RAM in the computer, but some software packages work better with a page file that is smaller or larger than the default setting.

    • 4). Click "OK" to accept the new value. Close all of the windows, including the original Control Panel window.
