How to Customize a Honda

    • 1). Install a Honda body kit. European sports cars are usually wider then American import vehicles because it helps to hold the car to the road during hard acceleration. Wide body kits and European-style kits have become very popular bolt-on modifications for all Honda models due to the fact that they are readily available, come in many sizes, and they can completely change the exterior look of the car. These kits are sold by numerous aftermarket locations and come in just about as many different styles. Body kits must be painted. The cost of doing so should be factored into your decision to purchase a body kit.

    • 2). Install retro-style European aftermarket rims. Using larger-than-stock rims became very popular in the early '90s. However, the current trend is to go back to stock-size European rims that give a Honda that early race car look. There are many specialty wheel outlets that can supply you with OEM (original equipment manufacturer) style rims that will give your Honda that special look.

    • 3). Convert the dashboard and hood to carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is a light weight material that is commonly used in body panels, car hoods, dashboards and other places to reduce weight. Honda makes a four-cylinder engine and a six-cylinder engine for their cars. These are capable of several hundred horsepower but cannot match up against the V8 eight-cylinder engines on the market. Reducing weight is very important for Honda cars if you want to keep up with the more powerful American muscle cars like the Mustang.

    • 4). Install a nitrous oxide kit to increase horsepower potential. The use of nitrous was widely exposed by the movie franchise "The Fast and The Furious." However, the use of nitrous has been done since the early days of tuning and has remained popular because it can double the horsepower output of a vehicle for a few hundred dollars. Nitrous forces cold air into the engine which drops the operating temperature. This is how it creates so much horsepower.
