Pella, one of the two leading companies in the U.S. for window replacements in existing homes, creates numerous window features that attract homeowners. Promoting energy efficiency in replacing existing windows leads Pella to assist homeowners with window selection, installation and removal of old windows. Its window alternatives with varying specifications provide homeowners with a variety of choices. - Pella manufactures windows in specific sizes but advertises that they customize their product to fit any existing window. With their sliding windows, the dimensions range from up to 6 feet wide to 5 feet high. Double-hung windows width extends to 4 feet and their height to 6 feet.
- Pella offers Low-E insulating glass, an option that is promoted as saving additional energy costs. This specification calls for two insulated panes of glass with either a two- or three-layer Low-E coating for thermal protection. For further insulation argon gas fills the inside between the two layers of glass. Two layers of coating block up to 85 percent of ultraviolet light while the third layer raises the protection to 95 percent.
- Although the features and specifications of the Pella windows, including the energy efficiency glass, encourages the windows to remain closed, the specifications call for a black fiberglass insect screen with each window. That feature would allow opening of the window without fear of insects entering the home.
