Video: How to Make a Water Crown in Your Photography

Video Transcript

Hi, I'm Dan Reinecke with Unknown Media, and today I'm gonna show you how to make a water crown in your own photos. This is certainly going to take a lot of trial and error on your part, the key is to not get frustrated and just keep trying. You're going to want to be in a very well lit area because your camera settings are going to be key in capturing the photo correctly. Keep your ISO low around 250 or even lower in order to keep as much noise out of your photo as possible. You're also going to want an aperture around 11 or higher so your focus will be crisp throughout the photo. You're also going to want to keep your shutter speed up around 600. Now if you've been doing the math and you can tell that you're going to need a lot of light to make this work. Pick your surface for where you want your crown to appear. You want a shallow surface so your plane of water will be around a millimeter deep. This is also key in making the drop appear more crown like. The deeper the water is the less the effect will appear. Position your camera on your tripod and start shooting. Again, don't get frustrated this could literally take hundreds of tries before you get it correct but once you do it, it will be totally worth it. I'm Dan Reinecke, take your best shot.
