How to Stop XP Startup Scan
- 1). Click the Windows "Start" menu and click "Run."
- 2). Type "cmd" (without quotes) and press "Enter" to launch the Command Prompt.
- 3). Type "chkntfs /x c" (without quotes) if you have one hard drive and press "Enter" to disable Chkdsk. If you have 2 drives, type "chkntfs /x c: d" (without quotes) and press "Enter" to disable Chkdsk. Close the Command Prompt and restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
