- 1). Open the Windows "Start" menu and click "Control Panel." Click "Clock, Language and Region," click "Change Keyboards or Other Input Methods" and then click "Change Keyboard."
- 2). Click "Add" and then scroll down through the list until you reach "Japanese." Check the "Plus Sign" icons next to "Japanese" and "Keyboard"; then check the box next to "Microsoft IME" and click "OK."
- 3). Hover your mouse over the "EN" symbol on the right side of the Windows Taskbar, click it and click "JP." Click the "A" icon next to "JP" and select "Hiragana."
- 4). Begin typing Hiragana words using their English spellings. Windows transliterates these into Hiragana script. If a certain spelling can be used for more than one script carrier, a drop-down list appears -- click the correct one.
