Homemade Centerpieces for an Anniversary
- Create a centerpiece featuring the couple's favorite colors or the hues associated with their anniversary year. For instance, fill a clear glass cylinder-shaped vase with synthetic stones or jewels in shades of blue for an 18th anniversary party. Tie a large blue satin ribbon around the vase, and sprinkle synthetic blue flower petals around the centerpiece to further showcase the color scheme. Or use paper lanterns in bronze or orange to complement the candles or synthetic fall leaves for a seasonal anniversary party. This works well if autumn is the season the couple got married in, and the hues are also appropriate for the 19th and 21st anniversaries, respectively.
- Create an elaborate centerpiece featuring flowers that have sentimental value to the couple, or match the number of years they've been married. For instance, a long, rectangular vase filled with calla lilies in striking colors like burgundy and pink is especially noticeable on white tablecloths for the 6th anniversary. The flowers are symbols of growth and the celebration of love and are also fitting if the couple prefers these blooms, regardless of the anniversary year; table confetti that matches the flowers makes the decoration complete. Or fill a globe-shaped vase with water and tea light candles, and surround the vase with a wreath of orchids or roses to commemorate the 14th or 15th anniversary.
- Create a fun and eye-catching centerpiece that showcases some of the couple's favorite activities for an upbeat and casual anniversary party. For instance, impress guests with an edible centerpiece of cookies shaped like flowers in a garden basket as an ode to the couple's love for baking and gardening. Or frame a few baseball cards featuring the favorite players of the "bride and groom," along with small dishes of traditional baseball fare, like mini pretzels or peanuts. You can also frame images of heartfelt items that have special meaning for the couple (e.g., the ticket from the couple's first movie together, and surround the frame with elegant flowers or garland).
- A collection of photos in gold or silver frames makes for an elegant and customized anniversary centerpiece. Adorn the main table where the couple will sit with a ring of frames that houses photos from their original wedding ceremony, baby pictures of their children and pictures of special holiday memories. Place candles in metallic shades around the frames -- spray the candles with glitter for extra flare, and intertwine synthetic vines around the frame to add more color to the arrangement. The silver and gold frames are appropriate for the 25th and 50th anniversary, but are a sophisticated addition to any anniversary celebration.
