- 1). Disconnect your iPod Classic, Nano or Touch from the computer or power adapter.
- 2). Remove all cases from your iPod and let the device sit at room temperature for a few hours. If the iPod is still malfunctioning or not holding its charge, proceed to calibrating the battery.
- 3). Start playback of a video or music playlist on your iPod and wait for the device's battery to completely drain. To speed up the draining process, you can turn up the backlight in the iPod's settings.
- 4). Reconnect the iPod to the computer or power adapter to start the recharging process. Do not use the iPod at all while it is charging.
- 5). Unplug the iPod's USB cable immediately when the charge completion symbol appears on the screen. You have now calibrated the device's battery, and it should return to its standard performance.
