How to Adjust the Governor on a Kawasaki FH721D

    • 1). Locate the governor lever plate behind the carburetor on the side of the generator. Identify the governor shaft that extends from the back of the plate by the hand adjuster knob at the outer end of the shaft.

    • 2). Loosen the lock nut where the shaft attaches at the lever plate with a metric open-end wrench.

    • 3). Rotate the governor lever plate clockwise by hand until it stops, indicating the throttle valve is fully open. Hold the governor lever in this position with one hand.

    • 4). Turn the hand adjuster knob at the end of governor shaft clockwise with your other hand until it stops to raise the output to maximum. Tighten the nut on the governor shaft with the wrench.

    • 5). Loosen the lock nut at the governor shaft with the wrench. Rotate the governor lever fully clockwise and hold it in this position with one hand. Turn the hand adjuster knob counterclockwise by hand to reduce the output of the generator. Tighten the nut with the wrench.
