How to Get Rid of Mold in a Dirt Basement

- 1). Remove all items from the basement such as furniture, boxes and extra building materials.
- 2). Shovel all visible mold into the bucket. If the walls are dirt, scrape off the mold and put it in the bucket. If the walls are not dirt, continue to next step.
- 3). Scrub down the walls and ceilings with a commercial mold spray.
- 4). Clean all duct work and other ventilation systems.
- 5). Spray down all surfaces with a fungicide or the mold spray (if it is not specified for cleaning).
- 6). Place fans in the basement to dry it out quickly and prevent further growth of mold.
- 7). Replace any materials that could not be cleaned of mold such as dry wall, ducts, pipes, or tubing, and ceilings.
