How to Disinfect With Clorox Bleach

    • 1). Wash any items to be disinfected with the soap or household cleaner of your choice and allow them to air dry completely.

    • 2). Soak plastic cutting boards, baby bottles, children's sippy cups and dishes in a solution of 1 tbsp. of regular Clorox bleach to 1 gallon of clean tap water. Fill travel mugs, water bottles and pet bowls with this solution.

    • 3). Soak items for two to four minutes, drain and allow to air dry.

    • 4). Pour a solution of 3 tbsp. bleach in 1 gallon of water on wooden cutting board surfaces and let stand for two minutes, and rinse in a solution of 1 tbsp. bleach in a gallon of water.

    • 5). Wash appliances, high chairs, potty seats, bathtubs, floors, countertops, walls, light switches, tiled surfaces and sinks with clear water, and wash again in a solution of 3/4 cup bleach to 1 gallon of water, allowing the solution to stand for five minutes. Rinse and allow to air dry.

    • 6). Soak plastic toys and teething rings in a solution of 3/4 cup bleach to a gallon of water for five minutes, rinse and allow to air dry.

    • 7). Turn your garbage disposal and faucet on and pour 3/4 cup of undiluted bleach directly into the drain. Flush your toilets, then pour 1 cup of undiluted bleach into the bowls, brush with a scrubber, let stand for 10 minutes and flush again.

    • 8). Disinfect water by adding 8 drops of regular bleach to 1 gallon of water that has been filtered to remove any particles. Allow to stand for 30 minutes and repeat the process, allowing water to stand 15 for minutes if you don't detect a slight bleach odor. Pour treated water back and forth a few times in clean containers to improve its taste.
