Menus, prices, and more

The homepage of the Disney World Dining app is broken down by parks and resorts, including the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Downtown Disney. Restaurants are sorted alphabetically and include a price estimate and location. Photos of the restaurant entrance are also helpful for spotting it in the busy park.

After you select a restaurant, you can view each menu along with prices and side items. You can also add restaurants to favorites for quick viewing later. For the real planners among us, you can use the scheduling section to choose different restaurants for various time slots throughout the day.

What I really love about the Disney World Dining app is the ‘Near Me’ tab in the upper left-hand corner. The app will use the iPhone’s built-in GPS to determine which restaurants are closest to you -- perfect for those near-meltdown moments when you need to get food into a hungry child ASAP. There’s also a link to the Walt Disney World dining reservations hotline, so you don’t need to bother remembering it.

Of course, this app focuses solely on dining, so you'll need to download additional apps if you want maps, wait times, or other park information. That's certainly not a deal-breaker, but the Disney World Dining app could have added a few maps and basic park information to make it an even better resource.

The Bottom Line

The Disney World Dining app focuses on only one aspect of your trip -- dining -- but it does it very well. The layout is simple and easy to read, and the menu information includes prices, side items, and location. The ‘Near Me’ tab is another great feature for finding a restaurant fast or evaluating several nearby options. Overall rating: 4 stars out of 5.

What You’ll Need

The Disney World Dining app is compatible with the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. It requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later.
