How to Make a Girl Scout Thin Mint Costume
- 1). Measure the person who is wearing the costume from the armpit to 2 inches below the hip. This will be the height of the round costume. Measure from hip to hip and add 2 inches to each side. This will be the width of the costume.
- 2). Draw a circle on the plain side of the shiny brown fabric. Use the measurements from Step 1 to help create the circle by drawing a straight line down for the height and across for the width. Encircle these lines. Repeat for a second circle on the plain side of the fabric.
- 3). Cut out the circles and lay both pieces flat. Measure the width of the shoulders of the costume wearer and subtract 2 inches from each side. Attach one end of a brown strap to the front circle, shiny side out, with a simple straight stitch. Attach the second strap to the circle, using the measurement taken from the shoulders, with a straight stitch. Attach the straps to the back circle, shiny side out, using the same method.
- 4). Move down the circle to the waist area. Attach a piece of fabric -- which will rest across the person's waist -- sideways to the circle with a straight stitch. Attach another piece of fabric directly across from the first with a straight stitch then stitch both pieces to the back circle.
- 5). Flip the whole outfit over and attach large white felt eyes with brown irises, a big white mouth and a banner toward the bottom which reads, "Thin Mint." The banner will be green felt with large white felt letters attached. Use a hot glue gun to attach all the felt.
