How to Make Ribbed Crochet

- 1). Crochet a row of chain stitches. You can crochet any amount of stitches, but complete at least 10 so you can see the ribbed effect.
- 2). Crochet any type of stitch with which you want to work. For the sake of simplicity, practice with a single crochet.
- 3). Crochet a chain stitch at the end of the single crochet row. Turn your work.
- 4). Insert the hook into the back loop. Normally, you would insert the hook into the top two loops, but for a ribbed stitch, insert the hook only into the back loop. Continue with a normal, single crochet by looping the yarn over the hook, pull through the loop, yarn over again, then pull through both loops.
- 5). Continue with Step 4 across the row of stitches.
