Why Hate on Valentines Day?
It is almost that time of the year again day and as the big day gets closer and closer the more it seems that more and more people seem to complain and show their dislike towards Valentine's Day.
I don't think the idea is to hate Valentine's Day.
On Facebook alone I have over a hundred people complaining on how they hate Valentine's Day and how it is a waste of time.
Now it could be that I have very depressing people as friends, but when they are asked whats wrong they all say the same thing which is that why should there be only a certain day to show your loved ones how much you love them.
After thinking about this a lot I have realised that most people seem to miss the point of Valentine's Day altogether which is that no it is not there so people can show how much they love their partners only on this day.
It is more like that in the real world whether people like it or not everyone is busy and they may find it difficult to balance professional and personal lives and keep that balance stable.
And well I admit there are reasons why you should not like it but why get others, who work hard to plan a nice day for their loved ones, all depressed as well.
Others argue Valentine's Day has lost its value, they feel that these days the once special Valentine's Day has been commercialised too much and that now its only another excuse for big corporations to profit from another international holiday.
I asked one of my friends fathers if he was going to celebrate it this year and his response was that "even if I do or do not I am in trouble.
" He went on to explain that there are many ways he would love to spend the day with his wife of 40 years now but due to his busy schedule he is unable to and if he was not to spend the day like he had planned then he would always have this sense of guilt in the back of his mind.
My opinion is that no it is not just one day where people show how much they love others and as many people argue that why should there only be a single day to show your loved ones how much you love them, you should do it everyday.
To those I say that whilst every couple does show that they love each other, this is at least one day guaranteed where couples can take the day off their busy schedules and just spend it with their loved ones just to remind them that they are not so busy that they have forgotten just how special and lucky they are to have their loved ones and with everyone doing this there is that "love is in the air" atmosphere all around to set that special mood.
Finally to those who do not like Valentine's Day whether they like it or not it is not going anywhere so why not just give it a try as what is the worst that can happen?
