How to Install a Whirlpool Ice Maker
- 1). Unplug the Whirlpool's power cord from the wall.
- 2). Close the supply valve that feeds water to the back of the freezer through a 1/4-inch tube. The valve is typically attached to the cold water pipe under your sink. Twist the valve knob clockwise until tight.
- 3). Pop off the cover plate on the back wall inside the freezer in the upper-left corner. If you already have an old ice maker in the Whirlpool, loosen the two screws holding the component to the inside left wall, then push up on the ice maker from the bottom to disengage the two brackets from the back wall.
- 4). Unplug the wiring harness from the socket in the upper-left corner of the freezer's back wall to remove the old ice maker.
- 5). Connect the wiring harness plug on the new ice maker to the power socket inside the freezer. The plug inserts in one direction only, so turn it around if it does not fit on the first try.
- 6). Guide the plastic fill tube attached to the back wall of the freezer into the fill cup on the top of the ice maker.
- 7). Line up the two holes on the left side of the ice maker with the screw heads in the left freezer wall and slide the two brackets on the back of the ice maker into the two notches on the back wall. Push down gently to seat the ice maker.
- 8). Tighten the two screws to secure the ice maker to the freezer wall.
- 9). Plug in the Whirlpool power cord.
