How to Relocate and Move a Gas Stove
Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Obtain a gas permit from the city building department. Most cities require homeowners to obtain a permit both when installing a gas line and when relocating it. The building department may require an inspection after the new line is installed, before you install the stove.
2
Contract a qualified plumber to install the new and remove the old gas line. Do not move the stove until the installation is completed.
3
Shut off the stove burners. Shut off the gas line valve at the rear of the stove. Unplug the power cord.
4
Place a plywood sheet at the feet of the stove to protect the flooring.
5
Position one person on each side of the stove. Kneel down. Grab underneath. Pull the stove onto the plywood.
6
Position the dolly at the back of the stove. Roll it underneath the stove, keeping the plywood on the floor. Secure the strap around the front of the stove. Pull back on the dolly to lift the appliance onto it.
7
Place plywood, cardboard or carpet pieces along the moving path to protect the flooring. Roll the dolly to the stove installation location. Position the dolly so the stove is sitting straight and ready for pushing into it's final position.
8
Set down the dolly. Remove the strap. Slide the dolly out from underneath the stove.
9
Connect the gas line and power cord. Push the stove back against the wall.
