How to Replace a Burner on the Maytag Flat Top Stove
- 1). Cut off the electricity to the Maytag at the fuse box or circuit breaker.
- 2). Open and pull down the Maytag door. Look under the top edge of the door frame to locate the screws that hold the flat top securely to the cabinet.
- 3). Remove and save the screws under the top edge of the door frame, using the screwdriver.
- 4). Raise the flat top by the left and right corners using both hands. Prop up the flat top with the metal rod.
- 5). Unscrew the screws in the cover plate over the burner you want to replace. Set the cover plate on the counter and place the screws inside for reuse.
- 6). Pull the burner out of the electrical outlet mounted on the underside of the stove.
- 7). Plug in the new element to the outlet and secure it with the cover plate and screws.
- 8). Lower the flat top gently with both hands to its original position.
- 9). Secure the flat top with the screws in the underside of the door frame and raise the Maytag's door.

Replace the fuse in the fuse box or switch on the circuit breaker.
