How to Stop & Fix Squeaky Computer Chairs

    • 1). Locate the chair seal lift lever, usually located on the right side of the chair, and depress it to allow you to raise the chair to its highest level.

    • 2). Locate the pivot point between the pedestal and the chair. Apply two or three drops of multipurpose lubricant oil to the pivot point. This will eliminate squeaking as you raise and lower the height of the chair.

    • 3). Locate the backrest and chair seat tilt mechanism. Apply two or three drops of oil to each pivot point on the mechanism. Depress the lever and move the backrest and chair seat back and forth to work the oil into the mechanism. Add a few more drops of oil if needed. This will eliminate squeaks when you move in your seat.

    • 4). Place the chair on its back and apply one or two drops of oil between the base of the chair and where the caster presses into the base. This will eliminate squeaking when you roll the chair across the floor.
