Easy-to-Make Shadow Box
- 1). Decide on the items you want to put in your shadow box and arrange them on a tabletop, so you will know the size picture frame you will need. Shadow boxes can be small or quite large and displayed on a wall or a table.
- 2). Trace the outside of your picture frame shape onto a piece of sturdy cardboard.
- 3). Cut the shape out of the cardboard with a craft or utility knife or a pair of scissors.
- 4). Take the glass out of the picture frame and trace the inside edge onto the cardboard you cut out. You will use this as a guide to place your treasures onto the area that will be visible once the shadow box is complete.
- 5). Decorate the outside of your wood picture frame with paint, decoupage or colorful markers, or you can leave it plain.
- 6). Glue the glass to the inside of the picture frame with a hot glue gun, unless the frame has metal clips that will hold it in place.
- 7). Place your mementos onto the cardboard where you desire and glue them in place with plenty of wood glue. You can overlap your treasures or place them randomly on the cardboard. Make sure you do not go outside the line you drew of the inside area. Allow the glue to dry.
- 8). Attach the frame to the cardboard with more wood glue and allow it to dry thoroughly.
- 9). Hang it onto a wall with a picture hanger nailed through the cardboard and into the wood frame or display your shadow box on a table.
